Catalina State Park sits at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Oro Valley, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Tucson, and encompasses 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons, and streams. The park offers camping with 120 paved campsites, hiking and biking trails, bird watching for over 150 species, and equestrian facilities, serving as a haven for desert plants, wildlife, and nearly 5,000 saguaros. An entrance fee of $7 per vehicle provides access to this scenic destination that invites visitors to explore eight trails ranging from easy foothills strolls to challenging canyon climbs.
