Gateway Park

Gateway River Park is a free public recreation destination located in the heart of downtown Cedar Falls on the Cedar River, officially opened in 2025. The park features eight engineered river features designed for activities including river surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing, fishing, and swimming, with expert-led lessons available for beginners learning to river surf. Situated adjacent to the historic downtown district between Main and First Streets, the park connects Peter Melendy Park across the river and provides family-friendly outdoor activities while enhancing the Cedar River Valley’s quality of life and tourism appeal.
