Greene Square

Greene Square is a downtown public park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, located at 400-442 Fourth Avenue SE, spanning approximately two acres. Created in 1843 as part of the city’s original downtown grid system and named after founding father Judge George Greene, the park underwent a $1.9 million restoration to become a flexible gathering space featuring pathways, seating, a distinctive 40-foot stainless steel sculpture by artist Bruce Beasley, and an interactive water feature. The renovated park connects the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and Cedar Rapids Public Library while hosting community programming including the annual Summer in the Square festival, farmers market, yoga classes, concerts, and special events year-round.
