Barrett Boesen Park

Barrett Boesen Park is a 3-acre natural playscape owned and operated by the City of Urbandale at 5301 156th Street, developed in partnership with the Barrett Boesen Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching children’s lives and connecting them with nature. The park, which opened in summer 2022, features natural play elements including water play areas, climbing features, nature-based obstacle courses, and a creek, designed to help children develop physical and mental skills through exploration and creative play. The park earned a Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects and serves as a regional nature play destination for the Des Moines metropolitan area.
